Gangster Movies

     I find it hard to give you a good idea about this whole movie. You can regard it from various points of view and this might be just a good enough reason to see it. The main character could be London, Sid or the whole substance abusing high class youngsters of The Big Apple (or the whole world)

     The action happens in modern New York and it all goes down through less then 24 hours. One of the main  characters, Sid (Chris Evans), is a young urban-type, higher class, drug addict with no real goal in life (or so it seems). He broke up with his girl, London (Jessica Biel), 6 months ago and now he tries to win her back by showing up at her going away party where obviously he is not invited. As usual he scores some coke before showing up, from Bateman (Jason Statham) who’s not your every-day dealer. One things leads to another and Sid ends up in the bathroom of the party loft with Bateman where, while snorting ridiculous amounts of blow, he remembers key parts of his relationship with London. The scene changes towards the end and becomes more various as the dudes exit the bathroom and leave the party (by “politely” saying goodbye and “excusing” themselves). The end is pretty soft but surprising however I’ll not spoil it.

            Personally I like this kind of movies which make you feel like you’re watching a play. I like it because the number of characters is reduced and most of them are very well defined even dough you are not told too much about them. This helps create the general scenario, time period and the atmosphere all together a bit more clear in my mind which allows me to start contemplating on the symbolism of each and every character and scene. BTW loved Bateman and his speeches…….
